Falling Out
Of bikinis and summer and honestly so much of life lately
If you’ve followed me long you know that I have a very particular routine I do when I first try on or buy a bikini before the tags even come off. I bounce and wiggle and bend and snap and crawl and stretch to make sure everything stays in place and nothing rides up in ways I don’t want it to. I have an active life with kids and a dog and camping and hiking and don’t have time to constantly adjust, worry, fidget with my clothes. I also prefer string bikinis (I just like the way they sit and look and also the ease of adjusting them to fit my particular curves just right) and the material has to be thick but not too thick and not scratchy. All tags are immediately cut out - any bikini that has some sort of fancy metalwork or wooden fasteners is off the table. I’ve made so many Instagram videos of this try on process, like this one and this one and this one, and it’s always so fun and helpful to not only myself but others, too.
Sometimes, though, my bikinis fit perfectly at first, like the top above, but eventually after wearing them a few times they just don’t make the cut.
I got this set as a gift from a small swimsuit company in Utah a few years ago and love the retro fit and cut. I still love the bottoms with that giant flower cut out, but the top just can’t hold in the girls any longer, as you can see from the video above. That means, unfortunately, she’s gotta go.
Honestly, I prefer wearing no top at all when swimming or bathing in the sun. It feels so much more natural and freeing that way.
