I have been a huge fan of Elvis since I was in high school. I read Priscilla Presley’s book Elvis & Me when I was in my early 20s. I have devoured all the lore and sordid truth and wildness that is his legacy and what lives in our collective memories and popular culture. I knew about his TCB (taking care of business) lightning bolt insignia for all the guys in his “Memphis Mafia” but it wasn’t until I went to Graceland on my honeymoon 25 years ago and that’s where I learned that there was a female version. The TLC with a lightning bolt for “tender loving care” that he made and gave to all “his women.” I bought a sterling silver pendant as a keepsake from Graceland for like $45 in 2000 which was a lot for me. I’ve worn it with a stack of other meaningful necklaces ever since.
