I have loved Sharon Olds poetry since high school, when I first read her poem about the death of Marilyn Monroe. (I also love Marilyn Monroe, and I think I’ll read you this poem next time because I adore it.) I’ve been reading some of her Odes for my paid subscribers here, which include some accompanying NSFW feminist art portraits and videos (one was on nipples and one on vaginas so you can probbbbbbbbably guess the photos were related). This one, Unmatching Legs Ode, can be read here, and you can hear me read it in a very chaotic video above, in which my daughter is trying to learn the harmonica in the background, disrupted also by an incoming phone call from Cologuard, the company that I used to mail my poop to in a small box to test for colon cancer before I started having colonoscopies prompted by my celiac diagnosis. (I guess they didn’t get the memo that I no longer need their services lol.) It’s made even more disjointed by my obvious mispronunciation of words I’ve never said in my life. Like saphenous and gastrocnemius.
Anyhow, I love poetry, I love writing it, I love having it read to me, so hope you do, also. And if you need a little more love for your legs, especially as summer season is upon us, check out this past post
